The role requires a Public Trust clearance. This is a remote security engineering position with a government-focused technology organization that supports national mission work. The engineer acts as a go-to technical point of contact for security systems and software, working across system, software and security teams to diagnose issues and keep systems secure and running. The role blends hands-on troubleshooting with design, integration and compliance support for system owners.
What you'll do
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve security and system problems in partnership with system engineers, testers and security operations staff.
- Support system owners on cybersecurity compliance, outages and escalated user-reported events.
- Design, develop and integrate security systems and software, and test and manage system changes, upgrades and new installations.
- Analyze hardware, software and integration requirements to build secure, integrated solutions aligned with federal and commercial best practices.
- Develop security test requirements, strategies and systems.
- Recommend system modifications that reduce user issues and security defects; occasionally lead a team by assigning tasks and providing status updates to customers.
What you need
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; equivalent work experience can substitute for the degree, at one year per year of education.
- Experience with security systems, system troubleshooting and cybersecurity compliance.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with engineers, security staff and customers.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Must be based in the United States.
