- Bring up new boards and prototypes, configuring I/O and debugging interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART and BLE.
- Build and maintain low-level software layers, including peripheral drivers, secure bootloaders, device firmware updates, and power and connectivity management.
- Optimize firmware for low power consumption on battery-powered devices.
- Work with product, cloud, mobile and quality engineers so device data arrives accurately and is useful to end users.
- Write design documents and code reviews that help raise the engineering bar across the team.
What you need
- At least 2 years of experience building firmware for resource-constrained systems that shipped to customers.
- Strong C programming skills, including comfort reading linker maps, stack traces and memory dumps.
- Experience with bare-metal or RTOS development (such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS), including scheduling, memory and timing decisions.
- Hands-on board bring-up experience and proficiency with low-level interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC).
- Comfort using oscilloscopes and other bench instruments to debug hardware and software together.
- Ability to work across hardware, firmware and cloud teams and write clearly.
