Lead Data Engineer (Remote - Latin America, Contract)

Candidates must be able to work in their country of residence under a contractor arrangement. A fast-growing digital consultancy that designs and delivers data and customer engagement solutions for clients is hiring a senior contract data engineer. You will lead data engineering work across client projects, owning architecture and pipeline delivery. The role suits someone who enjoys technical leadership, client-facing problem solving and working across several engagements at once.

What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain scalable batch and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Develop and optimise data models and transformations using SQL, Python and dbt.
• Build and maintain integrations between cloud data platforms, warehouses and external data sources.
• Translate customer engagement and CRM data requirements into reliable data models and pipelines, including customer events, user attributes and identity resolution.
• Implement data quality checks, unit tests and validation processes, and monitor performance and cost.
• Guide other engineers on best practices and work with data, analytics and CRM teams to align technical solutions with client goals.

What you need

• 5+ years in data engineering, data platforms or a similar technical role, with ownership of architecture and implementation.
• 4+ years hands-on with SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT processes.
• 2+ years using Python for data applications and transformations.
• Practical experience with dbt and modular data transformation, plus cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Strong English communication skills (C1 level or equivalent), both written and spoken.
• Able to provide proof of business incorporation and current professional insurance, and to complete identity checks.
