Senior Backend Developer

A fully remote role in the software engineering team of a technology organisation hiring from anywhere in the world. The position centres on building the server-side foundations of software products, including APIs, databases and backend services that power web and mobile applications. It suits an experienced backend engineer who enjoys designing scalable, secure systems, collaborating closely with frontend and mobile colleagues, and shaping technical decisions. What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain robust backend applications and services
• Build, integrate and maintain RESTful APIs and other service interfaces
• Design and optimise database structures, queries and data models
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways and external APIs
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to software architecture decisions
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile and product teams and write automated tests

What you need

• At least 3 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Go or PHP
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases
• Knowledge of API development, authentication and authorisation
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, application security and performance optimisation
• Familiarity with Git, testing frameworks and software development best practices
