SEO Specialist (Remote, South Africa)

Working hours follow U.S. business hours. A recruitment firm is hiring on behalf of a client to strengthen organic search performance across several high-value websites. The role is hands-on and execution-focused, covering technical SEO, keyword strategy, on-page optimization, link building and performance reporting. The successful candidate will work with writers and developers to turn search data into measurable traffic and conversion growth.

What you'll do

• Run keyword research with SEMrush, Ahrefs and Google Keyword Planner, mapping terms to search intent and funnel stage.
• Optimize on-page elements such as titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, internal links, URLs and schema markup.
• Carry out technical audits with Screaming Frog and Sitebulb, and work with developers to fix crawl, indexing, redirect and canonicalization issues.
• Plan ethical link-building activity, including guest posting, PR outreach and partnerships, and monitor backlink quality.
• Track rankings, organic traffic and conversions in Google Analytics and Google Search Console, and build dashboards in Looker Studio or Power BI.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports with clear recommendations for content, site redesigns and migrations.

What you need

• At least 2 years of professional SEO experience.
• Hands-on experience with SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
• Solid understanding of technical, on-page and off-page SEO, search intent and link building.
• Experience with a CMS such as WordPress, Webflow or Shopify.
• Strong written and verbal English and comfort working U.S. business hours.
• Must be based in South Africa.
