AI Developer

This remote, full-time role is for an AI developer who will design, build and maintain artificial intelligence solutions that streamline business processes, automate routine tasks and support data-driven decisions. The work centres on practical applications: integrating machine learning models and large language models into existing systems, and building intelligent tools that address real business challenges. It is aimed at an experienced engineer who enjoys turning business problems into reliable, measurable AI products and who works well with software developers, data specialists and non-technical colleagues. The organisation is an education and training provider focused on business and technology leadership across Africa.

What you'll do

• Design, build, test and deploy AI-powered applications based on business requirements
• Develop and integrate machine learning models for prediction, classification, recommendation and automation
• Build applications using large language models, generative AI and natural language processing
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing applications, APIs, databases and business workflows
• Prepare and analyse datasets for model training, evaluation and deployment
• Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve deployed AI solutions for accuracy, reliability and cost

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, AI, software engineering, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience and portfolio
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in software development, AI engineering or machine learning
• Strong Python skills and experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
• Experience integrating AI models or LLM services through APIs and SDKs
• Familiarity with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, REST APIs and SQL
• Knowledge of a major cloud platform (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud) and of responsible AI and data privacy practices
