Mechanical Design Manager - Data Center Construction (Remote - US only)

An international construction and project management consultancy is hiring a Mechanical Design Manager to lead mechanical and electrical design for new builds and existing facilities, with a strong focus on data center development. The role supports Project Managers and Project Directors and works closely with clients, design consultants and contractors. The salary range is base pay only; the employer may pay above or below the range based on experience and qualifications.

What you'll do

• Support Project Managers or Project Directors in running projects through design and construction, with emphasis on electrical and mechanical system leadership
• Provide technical guidance on concurrently maintainable power and mechanical systems and keep client services at a high standard
• Maintain the basis of design, prototype designs, template specifications and mechanical design standards across evolving requirements
• Manage external design consultants so mechanical contract documents are delivered on schedule, on budget and to company standards
• Review design RFPs and help define scope for mechanical engineering services; support vendor submittal reviews, factory witness testing and OFCI equipment evaluation
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports and client presentations, and coordinate project team meetings

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or a closely related construction field
• At least 8 years of project management experience in construction, including large-scale data center or mission-critical facilities
• Hands-on experience in mechanical design and engineering leadership, with a solid grounding in mechanical and electrical systems
• Experience managing teams of project managers and support staff, and managing client accounts
• Strong knowledge of the local US construction market and the full project lifecycle
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, plus experience with business development and cross-selling to clients
