Node.js Tech Lead / Architect

A remote, six-month contract for a senior engineer who can lead technical direction and design serverless systems on AWS. The role centres on building Node.js applications on AWS Lambda, connected through APIs and event-driven services, with a strong focus on performance, reliability and cost. It suits experienced backend engineers with deep cloud-native know-how who enjoy shaping architecture as well as writing production code, and who are comfortable working independently across time zones.

What you'll do

• Develop, optimise and maintain Node.js serverless applications on AWS Lambda
• Design RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations using API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS and EventBridge
• Architect and manage scalable, reliable microservices
• Optimise Lambda functions for cold starts, concurrency and cost
• Apply cloud-native best practices, CI/CD pipelines and code quality standards
• Ensure application performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability
