People Systems Engineer (Remote - India or Poland)

A fully remote, async-first software company in India or Poland is looking for an engineer to build and look after the internal systems that support its distributed workforce. The work sits at the crossroads of people operations and engineering, turning everyday HR, recruiting and team communication processes into reliable automated workflows. It suits someone who enjoys owning features from design through to tested, deployed code, values clear written communication, and is keen to use AI tools to improve how work gets done.

What you'll do

• Build, test and maintain integrations between HR, recruiting, collaboration and internal tools using web services and APIs
• Develop Slack apps and bots that automate people-operations workflows
• Write clean, documented automation code in Ruby or a similar scripting language, versioned in Git with peer review
• Monitor integration health, troubleshoot failures and fix root causes
• Ship changes through CI/CD pipelines following change-management and internal controls standards
• Use AI tools and LLMs to speed up development and prototype agents, sharing learnings with the team

What you need

• Hands-on experience building automations or integrations, ideally with HR or business systems
• Experience writing and maintaining code in Ruby, Python or JavaScript; willingness to learn Ruby if needed
• Practical production experience with Workato or a comparable integration platform
• Experience with REST and SOAP APIs and how data moves between systems
• Proficiency with Git and code review practices
• Strong independent problem-solving, clear written communication and discretion with confidential data
