Senior Full Stack Engineer

A remote role for an experienced engineer who enjoys hard technical problems and building dependable systems. The work centres on backend services and responsive web applications for a learning technology platform used by learners and institutions around the world. The team is distributed and international, and the role suits someone who likes ownership of solutions from design through to support, and who wants to mentor others and raise engineering standards.

What you'll do

• Write production-grade backend services in C# and build web interfaces in JavaScript or TypeScript
• Design scalable, fault-tolerant component architectures and APIs
• Produce detailed technical specifications for multi-sprint projects and take part in design reviews
• Build and deploy services on AWS, working with DevOps and cloud teams on performance and security
• Review code, uphold coding standards and maintain automated test coverage
• Mentor mid-level and junior developers and work with product, design and QA teams

What you need

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience on complex, customer-facing production applications
• Proficiency in C# and object-oriented design (strong Java experience with a move to C# considered)
• Working knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js and React
• Solid experience with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB and CloudWatch
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous programming, distributed systems and relational databases
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience, with advanced English and clear communication skills
