What you'll do
- Lead and grow a team of credit risk analysts, including hiring, structure, career paths and team leads as the function scales.
- Own day-to-day credit operations: underwriting and exposure decisions, portfolio monitoring, collections strategy and loss forecasting.
- Define and maintain the credit risk appetite, credit policy and limit framework, and serve as the final escalation point for high-exposure exceptions.
- Work with Data Science and Risk Analytics to build, validate and monitor scorecards, statistical models and decisioning logic, and own IFRS 9 or equivalent expected credit loss methodology and stress testing.
- Drive automation and AI-based approaches to credit risk problems, and set a multi-year roadmap covering people, models, data and tooling.
- Work with Compliance and Legal on Canadian and US lending requirements, and manage relationships with credit data and decisioning vendors.
What you need
- 8+ years of credit risk experience in financial services, fintech, payments or lending, including 3+ years of people leadership.
- Track record setting credit policy and risk limits, and managing a portfolio through a period of stress or a full credit cycle.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python (or similar), with working knowledge of logistic regression, decision trees and gradient boosting, and of model governance (validation, drift monitoring, explainability).
- Hands-on experience with IFRS 9 or equivalent GAAP standards such as CECL, including building or owning an expected credit loss model.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to executives, credit committees and auditors.
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively in a distributed team.
