Senior Staff Product Designer, AI (Remote - Worldwide)

A global HR and payroll software company serving distributed teams across many countries is hiring a senior staff-level product designer to lead design for its AI products. The work covers conversational interfaces, agent workflows, proactive notifications and human-in-the-loop moments. The role is split between designing core AI experiences directly and helping other product teams add AI to their own areas. You will partner closely with a principal designer who sets the overall intent and interaction direction.

What you'll do

• Set design direction for how AI appears across the platform, including in-chat actions, agent workflows, alerts and anomaly detection.
• Turn strong AI design into clear standards and reusable patterns with the design system team.
• Work with other product teams to identify where AI fits in their areas, and show them how by doing the design work.
• Run the practices that keep quality high: user research, competitor analysis and regular use of AI products.
• Make decisions independently and work with stakeholders across the company, from sales to risk and compliance.
• Mentor designers and help grow the AI design practice.

What you need

• 8+ years in product design, with at least 3 years at staff level or above.
• Deep experience designing AI products such as conversational UX, agents, copilots or automation; experience taking a product from zero to one and scaling it is a plus.
• At least one shipped AI feature with a measurable outcome, and the ability to walk through the full story from problem and research to prototype, launch and results.
• A strong portfolio with at least one detailed case study.
• Comfort working with ML engineers on error states and confidence thresholds, and a systems-level way of thinking.
• Enjoys fast-moving work and is comfortable making progress with incomplete information.
