Finance Officer

A full-time finance role based onsite in Lagos, Nigeria, within a microfinance bank. The post centres on accurate and timely financial reporting, preparing statements under international standards, and coordinating regulatory returns and compliance work. It suits an experienced accountant who enjoys detailed financial control, board-level reporting and forecasting, and who has worked in commercial or microfinance banking. Strong leadership, analytical ability and a professional accounting qualification are valued. Salary is open to negotiation.

What you'll do

• Prepare period financial statements under IFRS, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare quarterly Board reports with analytical review of the previous quarter
• Coordinate the annual statutory audit and related preparation
• Coordinate preparation for regulatory risk examinations and monthly regulatory returns
• Prepare quarterly earnings forecasts with supporting justifications
• General ledger review and account reconciliations

What you need

• First degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics or a related numerate discipline (minimum second class lower or equivalent)
• At least 5 years' experience in financial services, ideally in commercial or microfinance banks in Nigeria
• Sound knowledge of IFRS, especially financial instruments
• Ability to build financial models and analyse business opportunities and risks
• Strong numerical, analytical and presentation skills
• ACCA or ACA qualification preferred; M.Sc. or MBA an advantage
