Freelance Punjabi Linguist - Review & QA (Remote - Worldwide)

Open to Punjabi linguists in any country. Punjabi in Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi scripts is relevant to the role. A global language services company that delivers translation, localization and linguistic data work for clients across North America, Europe and Asia is hiring a freelance Punjabi linguist. You will act as a senior reviewer and quality lead for Punjabi translation work and will support the wider team of freelance linguists. The work is fully remote and done in a virtual, multi-time-zone team.

What you'll do

• Translate and review Punjabi content, and carry out quality assurance on translation tasks from other linguists.
• Perform copy-editing and linguistic checks for accuracy, consistency and style.
• Give clear, constructive feedback to translators and freelancers to raise output quality.
• Maintain language assets such as glossaries, style guides and work instructions.
• Answer linguistic queries from translators and project managers and help resolve terminology and style questions.
• Help onboard and train new linguists, and contribute to improving review processes.

What you need

• University degree in translation, applied languages, linguistics, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in translation, review or localization.
• Native-level Punjabi and fluent written and spoken English.
• Solid understanding of localization workflows and review processes.
• Hands-on experience with CAT tools (such as XTM, SDL Studio, PolyGlot, MateCat or similar) and issue tracking tools such as JIRA, and comfort with Windows and MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail, clear written communication, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
