Hardware Engineer

A hands-on technical role based onsite in Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt, Rivers State, supporting IT equipment in the oil and gas sector. The organisation relies on reliable computing and access hardware, so the work centres on keeping laptops, desktops, mobile devices and peripherals running smoothly. It suits an experienced hardware technician or engineer who enjoys diagnosing faults, repairing components and keeping clear maintenance records. Candidates with a degree or HND in a related engineering or IT discipline and several years of practical repair experience will feel at home.

What you'll do

• Diagnose hardware and software faults across laptops, desktops, mobile devices and other IT equipment
• Repair or replace faulty components such as screens, keyboards, batteries, memory, storage and charging ports
• Carry out motherboard-level diagnostics and repairs where needed
• Install, configure and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, iOS and Android operating systems
• Remove malware, resolve software issues and support data backup and recovery
• Support installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of biometric devices

What you need

• HND or B.Sc. in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in hardware engineering, desktop support, IT support or hardware repair
• Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining laptops, desktops and computer hardware
• Experience with biometric devices and IT peripherals is desirable
• Good understanding of computer hardware architecture, operating systems and basic networking
• Ability to diagnose hardware faults and identify defective components
