Senior Site Reliability Engineer

This remote role in Nigeria is for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer who will help keep a highly distributed platform stable as it grows quickly. The work blends deep distributed systems knowledge with strong software engineering, covering reliability targets, incident leadership, automation and capacity planning. It suits engineers who enjoy balancing day-to-day operational stability with longer-term improvements, and who want their services to scale smoothly. What you'll do

• Take part in on-call rotations as primary technical lead, including acting as Incident Commander during major incidents
• Instrument code to expose detailed metrics and distributed traces
• Define, measure and manage Service Level Objectives and error budgets with product owners
• Build internal tooling, automation and self-healing mechanisms in Java, Go or Python
• Advise product engineering teams on reliability and scalability patterns during service design
• Analyse performance and traffic to model capacity needs, and run load and chaos engineering experiments

What you need

• At least 5 years of experience in SRE or backend engineering
• Strong coding skills in Java, Go, Rust or Python, with clean, tested code
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures
• Extensive experience with GCP, AWS or Azure, and running Kubernetes workloads in production
• Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Datadog or similar
• Experience operating high-throughput data stores and streaming platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka or RabbitMQ
