Senior Data Engineer (Remote - Latin America)

Visa sponsorship is not available. A data infrastructure and analytics team is building a platform that pulls information from many sources and turns it into reliable, up-to-date company intelligence. The successful candidate will own the platform end to end, from architecture and data ingestion through to production operations. The team is small and focused on engineering depth, with a strong emphasis on reliability and data quality.

What you'll do

• Design a multi-source data platform that handles concurrent ingestion, event-driven processing, and orchestrated batch workflows.
• Build intake pipelines for APIs, webhooks, files, and web scraping, including rate limiting and strong failure handling.
• Orchestrate scheduled workflows and historical backfills with a tool such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect.
• Develop messaging and task queue systems with retries, dead-letter queues, and controlled replay.
• Store raw source payloads in Google Cloud Storage and model data with dbt across raw, standardized, and curated layers.
• Implement idempotent upserts, data contracts, automated validation, pipeline tests, and freshness and failure monitoring. Design and tune PostgreSQL schemas and loading patterns, and add enrichment and LLM-based structured extraction.

What you need

• At least 5 years building and running production data platforms that ingest from multiple sources, with ownership from architecture through deployment and ongoing operations.
• Hands-on production experience with dbt and Google Cloud Platform, plus workflow orchestration with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Temporal, or a similar tool (Airflow preferred).
• Strong Python skills, including asynchronous HTTP and concurrent processing with asyncio, aiohttp, or HTTPX.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including data modeling, query optimization, and reliable incremental loading.
• Experience with event-driven systems, messaging or task queues, asynchronous processing, and failure recovery.
• Experience with data contracts, raw and curated storage, retention policies, automated testing, and production monitoring.
• Must be based in Latin America to be eligible for this role.
