Senior Data Engineer (Remote - Latin America)

Visa sponsorship is not available. A data infrastructure and analytics team is building a platform that pulls information from many external sources and turns it into reliable, up-to-date business intelligence. The successful candidate will own the platform end to end, from system design and data ingestion through to production operations. The role suits an experienced engineer who has built data systems from the ground up and enjoys owning both the architecture and the day-to-day reliability.

What you'll do

• Design a multi-source data platform that handles concurrent ingestion, event-driven processing and orchestrated batch workflows.
• Build intake pipelines for APIs, webhooks, files and web scraping, including rate limiting and strong failure handling.
• Orchestrate scheduled jobs and historical backfills using a workflow tool such as Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.
• Develop messaging and task queue systems with retries, dead-letter queues and controlled replay.
• Store raw source payloads in Google Cloud Storage and transform data with dbt into raw, standardized and curated layers.
• Implement idempotent upserts, data contracts, automated validation, pipeline tests and monitoring for freshness and failures.

What you need

• At least 5 years building and running production data platforms that ingest from multiple sources, with ownership from architecture through ongoing operations.
• Hands-on production experience with dbt and Google Cloud Platform, plus workflow orchestration (Airflow preferred; Dagster, Prefect, Temporal or similar).
• Strong Python skills, including asynchronous HTTP and concurrency with asyncio, aiohttp or HTTPX.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, including data modeling, query optimization and reliable incremental loading.
• Experience with event-driven systems, messaging or task queues, and failure recovery.
• Must be based in Latin America; visa sponsorship is not offered.
• Helpful: web scraping, entity resolution, company or people data enrichment, LLM-based structured extraction, or building platforms from scratch in small teams.
