Senior Data Scientist (Credit)

A senior data science role focused on consumer credit, based remotely in Nigeria. The position centres on building the models and experiments that guide how a fast-growing financial services business lends to, prices and retains its customers at scale. It suits an experienced quantitative professional who enjoys combining statistics, credit risk and product thinking, is comfortable owning work end to end, and wants to shape early credit models and the team's approach to machine learning and traditional methods.

What you'll do

• Develop and deploy credit scoring, affordability and behavioural models for underwriting, pricing and collections
• Design and run experiments to improve approval rates, loss rates and profitability
• Work with product teams to embed decision logic into real-time systems
• Ensure data quality, compliance and ethical use of models in decisioning
• Mentor product teams on experimentation and data-driven decision making
• Build models to improve collections, churn management and customer retention

What you need

• Degree or qualification in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics or engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in data science, decision science or risk analytics in financial services
• Working knowledge of credit risk, consumer lending and regulatory considerations
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or R
• Experience with A/B testing, machine learning, collections modelling and churn management
• Ability to turn complex analysis into clear recommendations for business stakeholders
