Senior Technical Writer (Remote, United States)

A software company whose platform secures, manages and governs both API and AI traffic is hiring a senior technical writer to own documentation for at least one product area. The docs are read by people mid-task and by teams rolling out the platform company-wide, and they also feed AI assistants and agent workflows, so accuracy matters across every channel. You will decide what to write based on upcoming releases, user behavior and field feedback, and you will work closely with product managers and engineers from the start.

What you'll do

• Own the documentation strategy for your product area, including planning work and sharing that plan with the docs team.
• Find where documentation gaps block users by using product data, adoption numbers and field team feedback.
• Write and edit how-to guides, reference material, landing pages and product overviews.
• Test every procedure yourself, including APIs and command line tools, before a page is considered finished.
• Review docs from other writers for technical accuracy and style, and maintain published content by updating or deprecating it.
• Improve docs tooling and workflows, such as linting rules, version control practices and automated doc generation, with help from a docs engineer.

What you need

• Experience working as a technical writer on a docs team, giving and receiving peer reviews.
• Experience as a technical writer at a software company or startup.
• Hands-on experience with AI and AI-native workflows, including building skills with MCP servers.
• Practical experience testing software, including APIs and command line tools.
• Comfortable on the command line with solid Git experience.
• Experience maintaining and reviewing documentation in a docs-as-code environment.
