Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote, Switzerland)

This is a remote engineering role on the AI team of a fast-growing company that builds text-to-speech and audio reading tools used by tens of millions of people. The company runs as a fully distributed team with no office and a strong asynchronous work culture. You will build the data pipelines that feed model training and next-generation AI products, with a focus on sourcing high-quality audio data at very large scale and at low cost.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems with attention to data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training data and support new model development.
• Own engineering projects from initial problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Applicants should be based in Switzerland, as the advertised pay range is for Switzerland-based hires.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition, or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
