Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - US only)

The company is fully distributed with no office. This is a software engineering role on the AI team of a fast-growing audio AI company whose consumer products serve tens of millions of users. The team builds the data pipelines that feed model training and new AI products. You will work on large-scale datasets, where quality, throughput and cost all matter. The work is asynchronous and independent, and you will have real ownership over the systems you build.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines to bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, optimizing for data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training data and support next-generation model development.
• Own engineering projects from initial problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
• Familiarity with ML training data, dataset quality or audio processing.
