Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - US only)

This is a fully distributed role with an AI audio company that makes text-to-speech reading tools used by tens of millions of people. The team is building the data pipelines that feed model training and next-generation AI products. You will work on large, high-quality datasets at very large scale, combining engineering, infrastructure and research. The company works asynchronously and has no physical office.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines to bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, focusing on data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to improve training datasets and support new model development.
• Own engineering projects from problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• Computer Science degree or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
