Staff Security Engineer (Visa Sponsorship - San Francisco, USA)

Visa sponsorship available. This is a senior individual contributor role at a fast-growing generative media infrastructure company that provides high-performance model inference, orchestration, and observability for developers and enterprises building AI products. The team is setting its security direction across GPU compute, multi-cloud Kubernetes environments, inference APIs, and internal AI systems. The role combines architecture ownership with hands-on building of controls, with a strong focus on making secure defaults the easiest path for engineers.

What you'll do

• Design isolation for multi-tenant GPU workloads, customer code, and model execution environments.
• Protect model weights, customer data, and inference endpoints through identity, encryption, and access controls.
• Threat model inference services, agentic workflows, and internal AI tools, including prompt injection, data leakage, and model supply chain risks.
• Build guardrails for agents and AI tools such as scoped permissions, sandboxing, and audit logging.
• Own the security architecture and roadmap for the highest-risk areas, and publish patterns teams can adopt on their own.
• Lead vulnerability management from discovery through prioritization and remediation, and mentor engineers across the company.

What you need

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years of hands-on security engineering.
• Deep knowledge of cloud security (AWS or GCP), Kubernetes, Linux, and identity and access systems.
• Strong in Python or Rust, with production code shipped.
• Daily use of LLMs, agents, and AI coding tools to build, review, and automate security work.
• Track record of getting security improvements adopted by engineering teams without formal authority.
• Ability to explain security risk in business terms to engineers and executives.
