U.S. People Operations Specialist (Remote - South Africa)

Working hours must overlap at least 5-6 hours with U.S. Pacific Time. A U.S.-based immigration law firm with offices in several states and international operations is hiring a People Operations Specialist to support its HR team. The role covers recruitment support, onboarding, compliance tracking, and training materials, and it includes a focus on using AI and automation to make HR processes more efficient. The firm works in a fully remote setup with a diverse global team.

What you'll do

• Support employee onboarding so new hires are set up on the firm's systems and tools within their first week.
• Assist with HR document, process, and compliance audits, and track completion of required documents, certifications, training, and policy acknowledgements.
• Follow up with employees and managers on outstanding compliance items.
• Support recruitment by helping with candidate outreach, pipeline updates for hiring managers, reference and background checks, and interview participation.
• Help create and update SOPs, training materials, onboarding resources, and knowledge checks.
• Find ways to streamline HR workflows through automation and AI tools, and maintain workflows in monday.com and other operational platforms.

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of HR operations experience with a U.S.-based company, covering onboarding, compliance, or employee lifecycle support.
• Hands-on experience with monday.com and an HRIS such as Rippling.
• Excellent written and spoken English and proactive communication, including flagging issues and following up without prompting.
• Comfortable learning new tools quickly and using AI tools for documentation and content creation.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced remote environment.
• Preferred: recruitment or sourcing experience, documentation/SOP writing, or Canva skills for training materials.
