Applied AI Researcher (Remote - Worldwide)

Visa sponsorship available. A small team is building AI systems for detecting synthetic media, analyzing images and audio for forensic signals, and preventing digital fraud. The role blends applied research with hands-on engineering, turning promising methods into dependable software for digital trust and security problems. The company has not published compensation; the range above is an estimate based on the role and market.

What you'll do

• Explore methods for synthetic media detection, media analysis, and fraud prevention.
• Read and reproduce relevant research papers, then pick promising approaches to develop further.
• Design experiments, set baselines, and measure model performance on realistic data.
• Implement research ideas and work with engineers to move effective approaches into production.
• Study failure cases and improve model reliability, generalization, and efficiency.
• Write up methods and results, contribute to papers and technical documentation, and help set priorities around practical problems.

What you need

• Strong grounding in machine learning, experimental design, and model evaluation.
• Hands-on experience building, training, and evaluating models with modern ML tools.
• A track record of turning research into working, shipped code.
• Ability to critically read research and communicate methods and findings clearly.
• Evidence of ability through shipped systems, publications, open-source work, or substantial applied projects.
• Experience in computer vision, audio, multimodal learning, media forensics, adversarial robustness, or real-time deployment is a plus. Comfort owning open-ended problems in a small team is expected.
