Senior AI Product Engineer (Remote - EMEA & Latin America)

Open to residents of Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Latvia, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, Germany, Greece, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, plus other EMEA locations as listed by the employer. You must be authorized to work where you live. A fully remote, globally distributed company that helps businesses hire, pay and support staff across many countries. The team is building an internal and customer-facing AI assistant that needs to be accurate, fast, reliable and safe with sensitive data. This senior role owns complex improvements end to end, from problem definition and design through evaluation, rollout and production learning. You will also help other product teams build AI features well.

What you'll do

• Lead complex AI improvements from user need through architecture, implementation, evaluation and safe rollout.
• Design agent tools with clear contracts, error handling, bounded execution and human control over consequential actions.
• Improve knowledge retrieval (retrieval, embeddings, indexing, freshness) while respecting data access boundaries.
• Build evaluation loops using representative datasets, experiments, regression checks and calibrated automated judges.
• Diagnose production failures across prompts, retrieval, tools, models and infrastructure, and verify fixes with evidence.
• Support other product teams through code review, pairing, technical guidance and mentoring.

What you need

• Senior-level engineering experience, including independently leading complex production work from design through operation.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered product features to production.
• Real depth in at least some of: RAG and indexing, evaluation datasets, LLM-as-judge, or agents and tool calling.
• Solid fundamentals in coding, debugging, testing, API integration and system design. Willingness to work in Ruby on Rails and React is required; prior Rails experience is a bonus, not a prerequisite.
• Good judgment on sensitive data, access control and operational risk, with clear async communication in English.
