Associate Linux Support Engineer (Remote - Worldwide)

An entry-level remote role supporting customers of a Linux and open source software organisation with a global, distributed team. The work suits hands-on engineers who enjoy Linux, want to deepen their troubleshooting skills across cloud, desktop, server and IoT environments, and are keen to grow a long-term career in enterprise open source support. The position is fully home based and open to candidates anywhere in the world, with occasional international travel for team events.

What you'll do

• Provide remote technical support to customers and keep them updated through each case
• Troubleshoot complex Linux issues, find root causes and own cases from start to finish
• Manage support cases within service-level agreements and set realistic expectations
• Write and update knowledge base articles and technical notices
• Escalate to senior colleagues when needed
• Take part in a regular weekend on-call rotation

What you need

• Technical degree with a strong academic record, or an equivalent alternative path
• Hands-on Linux troubleshooting skills using logs, stack traces and configuration files
• Basic experience in at least two of: Linux server administration, programming, networking, virtualisation or cloud
• Strong written and spoken English and comfort working in an international team
• Able to travel internationally about twice a year for company events (up to two weeks)
• Background check required
