Cloud Platform Engineer (Remote - Worldwide)

A remote-first developer tools company with an open-source focus is looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join its Cloud Engineering team. The team builds the foundations that let other engineers create, ship and run infrastructure safely across AWS and GCP. The work mixes cloud governance, platform engineering and hands-on operations, and much of the groundwork is still being shaped, so the role suits someone who enjoys turning complex infrastructure problems into practical systems and standards. The company hires across time zones and works asynchronously, so strong written communication matters.

What you'll do

• Design and implement cloud governance across AWS and GCP, covering identity, account structure, access controls and guardrails
• Build reusable Infrastructure as Code building blocks so teams can provision resources consistently and safely
• Create self-service workflows that reduce friction for engineers while keeping sensible boundaries
• Own resource tagging, inventory with clear ownership, and consistent cross-account billing data
• Develop reusable security primitives such as secrets storage, KMS, certificate management and service-to-service authentication
• Own cloud networking and operational primitives such as IP address management, DNS and quota alerting

What you need

• 5+ years in cloud governance, platform engineering or operations, including running production systems and on-call
• Experience leading a significant migration, such as restructuring cloud accounts, introducing IaC or centralising SSO
• Real depth in at least one of: AWS tooling and IAM/SSO, production software engineering (e.g. Go or Rust), or operations with alerts, runbooks and SLOs
• Production experience with Infrastructure as Code, in any tool
• Clear written communication and comfort working asynchronously across global teams
