Communications Intern

A remote, part-time communications internship for a six-month placement starting in early 2027. The role supports a nonprofit organisation working on its magazine, e-newsletters, social media, website and reports, with a focus on Indigenous Peoples' rights. The post is unpaid, with two expense stipends across the placement. It suits self-driven writers and creatives who care about social justice, enjoy interviewing people and telling stories, and are comfortable working with design and video tools. Spanish or Indigenous language skills are especially welcome.

What you'll do

• Research and interview people to write articles, summaries and reports
• Create and schedule social media content and design visuals
• Edit short-form video
• Draft and proofread e-newsletters
• Help maintain email mailing lists
• Work under the guidance of the senior communications manager

What you need

• Strong writing skills and comfort conducting interviews
• Interest in nonprofit communications and Indigenous Peoples' rights
• Fluent English; Spanish or Indigenous languages highly desirable
• Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe or Mailchimp is a plus
• Flexibility to work morning or afternoon US Eastern hours
• Available around 15 hours per week
