Founding Applied AI Engineer (Visa Sponsorship - San Francisco, United States)

Visa sponsorship available. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco. An early-stage AI company building AI-driven marketing automation is hiring its first senior applied AI engineer. You will take ownership of the quality and intelligence of its AI agents that produce marketing content across several channels. The role includes shaping agent design, building evaluation systems, and helping grow the AI team over time.

What you'll do

• Raise the quality of AI-generated social and long-form content by building evaluation systems that make quality measurable.
• Improve search engine optimization and generative engine optimization outcomes for generated content.
• Build feedback loops so agents learn from real-world performance signals.
• Improve production AI infrastructure, agent architecture, model strategy and supporting data pipelines.
• Help recruit and lead the AI team as it expands.

What you need

• At least 3 years building production ML or AI systems, including recent hands-on work shipping LLM products or agents.
• Experience designing evaluations and learning from outcome signals at scale, ideally in search, ranking or recommendations.
• Strong TypeScript skills, including Next.js, and Python for data analysis, evaluation and model work, with a record of shipping end to end.
• Experience improving production AI systems and owning work in a startup or small-team setting.
• Background at a leading AI lab or research program, or comparable demonstrated technical depth.
• Experience with search, ranking or AI answer engines, marketing or go-to-market work, recommendation systems, or reinforcement learning is a plus.
