Lead Data Analyst / Statistician

A remote, contract-based role leading the statistical design and analysis of a household survey of parents in a large cluster-sampled baseline study. The work covers sampling design, survey weights, outcome index construction and reporting, with a pre-analysis plan for public registration. The organisation runs research and evaluation work in the social and health sectors. Suited to an experienced statistician comfortable with complex survey data, rigorous documentation and reproducible code, and able to meet fixed project deadlines while working remotely.

What you'll do

• Finalise the sampling frame, stratification, power calculation and minimum detectable effect during project inception
• Prepare enumeration-area maps and household listing and selection procedures for 160 enumeration areas
• Review the tablet-programmed baseline questionnaire for measurement quality and skip logic
• Build design and non-response weights for a baseline panel of 2,400 parents
• Construct and validate outcome indices, including factor analysis, reliability testing and intra-cluster correlation estimates
• Produce tables and charts for the baseline report and draft a pre-analysis plan for public registration

What you need

• Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, epidemiology or a related field; PhD preferred
• At least 7 years of professional experience analysing complex household survey data
• Experience designing multi-stage cluster samples and survey weights
• Expert use of Stata and/or R
• Experience with panel or longitudinal surveys or causal-inference methods is an advantage
• Experience in social and behaviour change, media, gender or GBV programmes, or survey work in Northern Nigeria, is an advantage
