Lead Financial Analyst, Strategic Business Partner - Product & Technology (Remote - Select Countries)
Working hours should fall between UTC-8 and UTC+1. Non-US hires are employed through a local Employer of Record and must hold current work authorization in their country. This is a remote finance role at a mission-driven nonprofit that runs large free-knowledge online platforms and is supported largely by public donations. You will be the senior finance business partner to the Product & Technology department, which manages a combined budget above $100M and is one of the fastest-growing parts of the organization. The role is business partnering first and FP&A second, sitting alongside product and engineering leaders to weigh investment trade-offs before decisions are made. You will also mentor other analysts and help raise the standards of the wider finance partnering function.
What you'll do
- Act as lead finance partner to department leaders and budget owners, giving analysis that guides prioritization and investment decisions.
- Translate technical roadmaps (such as infrastructure, AI/ML, and data engineering) into budgets, forecasts, and headcount and contractor plans.
- Lead annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting, multi-year planning, and month-end variance analysis with clear commentary.
- Plan data center and infrastructure CAPEX, support software capitalization with Accounting, and model total cost of ownership and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Present resource plans and financial performance to senior leaders, including the Chief Product and Technology Officer and the CFO.
- Coach FP&A analysts, review their work, and lead process and tooling improvements for the planning and reporting system.
What you need
- Bachelor's degree plus 7+ years of experience in FP&A, financial business partnering, or corporate finance, ideally supporting a technology, engineering, or product organization. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Hands-on experience partnering with technical and product teams and a genuine curiosity about how they work.
- Strong financial modeling skills and excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to executives.
- A record of influencing senior stakeholders without formal authority and supporting multiple business units at once.
- Experience mentoring analysts and leading process improvement projects.
- Ability to work across time zones (UTC-8 to UTC+1) with distributed teams, both asynchronously and synchronously, and to travel 2-3 times per year for offsites and conferences.
- Preferred: experience with tech-specific planning (CAPEX, ASC 350-40 capitalization, headcount and vendor spend), Workday Adaptive Planning, or nonprofit/open-source settings.
