Legal Citation Specialist (Law Students)

A remote contract role supporting a legal citation project for an AI-focused organisation. The work draws on Bluebook expertise and law journal editing skills to review citation-checking standards and create practice cite-checking tasks. It suits current law students, recent law graduates, and former law review or journal members who enjoy careful editorial work and explaining the reasoning behind a correction. No prior AI experience is needed, and the work is designed to be done independently, with flexible hours across time zones.

What you'll do

• Review existing Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics and flag unclear or inconsistently applied rules
• Identify edge cases not covered by current rubrics and recommend how to handle them
• Create sample cite-checking tasks with citations containing realistic errors, plus correct answers and rule explanations
• Build tasks across a range of citation types and difficulty levels
• Flag ambiguous cases to project coordinators rather than resolving them silently
• Deliver assigned work on schedule and to the required quality

What you need

• Current law student (2L or 3L) or recent JD graduate
• Law review or law journal experience, ideally including cite-checking
• Strong working knowledge of The Bluebook, including pincites, short forms, signals and parentheticals
• Able to explain why a citation is wrong, not just how to correct it
• Careful and consistent across long sessions of detailed review
• Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
