Metadata & Data Lineage Specialist

This role is for a specialist who will build out and run metadata management and data lineage capabilities for a data-driven organisation in Nigeria, working remotely. The aim is to make the data catalogue genuinely useful, helping teams find, trust and understand their data while tracing how it moves and transforms across systems. It suits an experienced data governance or engineering professional who enjoys turning frameworks into practice, automating collection, and coaching colleagues on data literacy. Experience in regulated sectors such as financial services or fintech is a strong advantage.

What you'll do

• Maintain enterprise metadata, business glossaries, data definitions and ownership frameworks in a data catalogue
• Develop, validate and maintain end-to-end data lineage for critical data flows, products and reports
• Configure and monitor metadata ingestion workflows and improve coverage through automation and APIs
• Establish metadata quality rules and KPIs and run regular assessments of gaps
• Apply data classification based on sensitivity and support Risk, Compliance and InfoSec with lineage information
• Facilitate workshops and guidance to improve data literacy and platform adoption

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Information Systems or a related discipline
• 3 to 6+ years in metadata management, data governance, data architecture or data engineering
• Hands-on experience with an enterprise data catalogue platform such as DataHub, Solidatus or Informatica
• Practical experience developing end-to-end data lineage in complex environments
• Solid SQL and understanding of relational database structures
• Knowledge of APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data architectures
