Mid-Level AI Developer (Remote - Worldwide, 3-Month Contract)

A technology consultancy is hiring a mid-level AI developer for a three-month remote engagement. The work centres on designing and running production-grade agentic AI systems on major cloud platforms. The person will own solutions from architecture and prototyping through deployment, evaluation and monitoring, and will help set engineering standards for AI work.

What you'll do

• Design and build single- and multi-agent workflows that include planning, tool use, memory and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Develop LLM applications on AWS (Amazon Bedrock and related agent services) and Azure (Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Foundry), choosing the right platform and model for each use case.
• Build retrieval-augmented generation pipelines covering ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search and grounding over enterprise data.
• Connect agents to internal systems and SaaS tools through APIs, function calling and the Model Context Protocol.
• Set up evaluation frameworks for quality, safety and cost, and add guardrails such as prompt-injection defences, PII handling and audit logging.
• Containerise and deploy services with CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and add tracing and cost monitoring.

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of software engineering experience, including 1+ years building LLM or GenAI applications in production.
• Strong Python skills and experience building and operating APIs and services.
• Hands-on experience with an agent framework such as LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, Strands Agents or CrewAI.
• Production experience with AWS or Azure AI services, and working knowledge of the other.
• Practical RAG experience with vector databases or search services, plus cloud fundamentals (containers, IAM or Entra ID, secrets management) and CI/CD with infrastructure as code.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
