Product Design Manager

A remote leadership role for an experienced product designer who wants to lead a small team building digital products for shop owners, traders and entrepreneurs across Nigeria. The organisation is a fintech serving small businesses, where trust and clarity matter because many customers are new to digital tools and use low-end devices on unreliable networks. The role suits a hands-on design leader who can set direction, raise the quality of shipped work, and build shared design patterns, while coaching designers and bringing AI tools into everyday practice.

What you'll do

• Set design direction for a product area and turn it into plans with measurable outcomes
• Run critique and design reviews against a definition of done that includes accessibility
• Keep customer journeys consistent across teams and resolve conflicting designs before launch
• Plan customer validation and success metrics into delivery
• Build shared design system patterns that handle market and product variations
• Hire, coach and grow a team of product designers

What you need

• 10+ years of product design experience with a portfolio of shipped mobile and web work
• 3+ years managing product designers, including hiring and career development
• Experience setting design direction and leading a team to deliver it
• Experience running a design quality practice such as critique and design reviews
• Experience building shared patterns adopted across teams, products or markets
• Experience using AI tools in design work and building that fluency across a team
