Project Accountant (Remote US)

A remote role for an accountant who enjoys keeping project finances accurate and well organised. You will look after billing, collections, cash application and month-end reporting across assigned client accounts, working closely with operations and customer finance teams. The position suits a detail-minded accounting professional with corporate staff experience, strong Excel skills and a steady approach to tight deadlines, who wants to grow within a fast-paced, results-driven organisation.

What you'll do

• Set up and maintain project records, checking supporting contract documents against billing requirements
• Prepare time and materials, milestone and fixed fee invoices in line with contract terms
• Track receivables, reconcile hours and expenses, and follow up with customer accounts payable teams on payment
• Post cash receipts, apply payments, and process discounts and adjustments
• Support month-end revenue reconciliation, project profitability reporting and annual audit requests
• Review expense reports and vendor invoices allocated to assigned projects

What you need

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance (accounting or finance preferred)
• Two to five years as a corporate staff accountant
• Experience using ERP systems and their reporting tools
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex models and functions across worksheets
• Understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition and the link between project financials and the general ledger
• Strong reconciliation, analytical and organisational skills
