Senior Data Engineer (Remote - Worldwide)

A fast-growing African fintech and payments company that processes very large volumes of digital transactions each year is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to work remotely. The role focuses on the pipelines and platform that power the company's payments, banking, credit and business products. You will work closely with functional teams to turn their data needs into reliable, scalable systems.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain data pipelines that handle large data volumes reliably
• Improve the data platform for speed, scalability and cost efficiency
• Partner with different functional teams to understand and meet their data requirements
• Develop processes and tools to monitor data accuracy and the performance of analytical models
• Troubleshoot and resolve data-related problems across the platform

What you need

• At least 5 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer
• Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform such as Google Cloud, AWS or Azure
• Experience using git or similar version control tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
