Senior Data Scientist, Credit (Remote, Poland)

A fast-growing fintech company offering payments, banking, credit and business tools to millions of users and merchants across Africa is hiring a senior data scientist for its consumer lending team. You will build the models and experiments that guide how credit is priced, how limits are set and how customers are retained and recovered. The role sits between data science, credit risk and product, and you will help shape how the team balances machine learning with more traditional credit methods.

What you'll do

• Build and deploy credit scoring, affordability and behavioural models used in underwriting, pricing and collections
• Design and analyse A/B tests and experiments to improve approval rates, loss rates and profitability
• Work with product squads to embed decision logic into real-time systems
• Develop models for collections, churn management and customer retention
• Ensure data quality, regulatory compliance and responsible use of models across decisioning processes
• Coach product teams on experimentation and data-driven decision-making

What you need

• Degree or equivalent in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics or engineering
• 5+ years of experience in data science, decision science or risk analytics, ideally in financial services
• Working knowledge of credit risk, consumer lending and the regulations that apply to them
• Strong SQL and at least one modelling language such as Python or R
• Hands-on experience with A/B testing, machine learning, collections modelling or churn modelling
• Ability to explain complex analysis clearly to business stakeholders, with a strong sense of ownership
• Must be based in Poland and eligible to work there
