Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - US only)

A fully distributed AI and audio technology company with no office is hiring a software engineer to build the data pipelines behind its model training and next-generation AI products. The team works asynchronously and combines engineering, infrastructure and research to produce large, high-quality datasets at very large scale and low cost. This is an autonomous role suited to someone who likes ambiguous problems and owning work end to end.

What you'll do

• Find and evaluate new sources of audio data and build reliable pipelines to bring them into training datasets.
• Build and improve large-scale data-processing systems, focusing on data quality, throughput and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to refine training datasets and support new model development.
• Own engineering projects from initial problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and running production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in unclear situations.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data-processing systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
