Software Engineer, AI Data (Remote - Worldwide)

Fully distributed team with no office; the role works asynchronously across time zones. This is a software engineering role on the AI team of a fast-growing AI audio company with a fully distributed workforce. The engineer will build the data pipelines that feed model training and new AI products, working at very large data scale with an emphasis on quality, throughput and cost. The position suits someone who likes finding unfamiliar data sources and turning messy inputs into reliable training datasets.

What you'll do

• Find new sources of audio data and build dependable pipelines that bring them into training datasets.
• Design and improve large-scale data-processing systems, tuning for data quality, speed and cost.
• Work closely with AI scientists to refine training datasets and support next-generation model work.
• Own engineering projects from problem discovery through implementation and ongoing improvement.

What you need

• A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with solid backend fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python and Bash in Linux environments.
• Experience building and operating production systems, ideally data pipelines or large-scale data processing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in ambiguous settings.
• Experience with web crawlers, data acquisition or distributed data processing.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code, particularly GCP and Terraform.
• Familiarity with ML training data, dataset quality or audio processing.
