Technical Specialist I (Certification Auditor)

A remote, independent contractor role auditing organisations that are seeking B Corp certification. The work involves reviewing sustainability, social and environmental practices and governance systems against a recognised set of standards, with an emphasis on integrity and credible, consistent outcomes. The post is set within an energy, biomaterials and circularity division of a certification-focused organisation. It suits people with a background in sustainability or environmental science who have hands-on auditing experience against management system standards, and who enjoy careful evidence review, clear report writing and working independently with clients and colleagues. Some travel for site visits is part of the role.

What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits against B Corp certification standards
• Review documents, processes and practices and carry out interviews and site inspections where needed
• Identify non-conformities, give actionable recommendations and issue audit reports
• Manage the audit process with clients and keep them informed and on schedule
• Take part in audit planning, follow-up, calibration and witness audits
• Keep competency records and maintain impartiality and confidentiality

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to pass mandatory B Corp training
