Technical Specialist I (Remote, Sustainability Audit)

A remote, full-time independent contractor role supporting third-party certification audits for organisations seeking B Corp status. The work involves reviewing sustainability, social and environmental practices and governance systems against recognised standards, with a strong focus on integrity, consistency and credibility. The organisation operates in the energy, biomaterials and circularity space and is part of a wider sustainability certification body. The role suits experienced sustainability professionals with a background in environmental or social fields, strong auditing know-how and a methodical, ethical approach. Home-office based with some domestic or international travel.

What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits against B Lab Standards, including interviews and site inspections where needed
• Review organisational documentation, processes and practices
• Identify non-conformities, provide actionable recommendations and issue audit reports
• Direct the audit process and ensure clients supply required data
• Participate in audit planning, follow-up, calibration and witness audits
• Maintain competency records and up-to-date knowledge of programme requirements

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or RSPO
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English, with excellent written and verbal communication
• Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel; completion of mandatory B Lab training
