Technical Specialist I (Remote Sustainability Auditor)

A remote, full-time independent contractor role conducting third-party certification audits for organisations pursuing B Corp status. The work involves checking sustainability, social and environmental performance, and governance practices against a recognised set of standards, while protecting the integrity and credibility of the certification process. The organisation is a global, mission-driven certification body in the impact and sustainability sector. The role suits people with a background in sustainability, environmental science or social sciences, plus hands-on auditing experience against management system standards. Strong writing, analytical and independent working skills are essential.

What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits against certification standards and review audit reports for conformity
• Carry out interviews, document reviews and site inspections where needed
• Identify non-conformities and areas for improvement, and provide clear, actionable recommendations
• Manage audit timelines, deliverables and client data requirements
• Support follow-up on audit findings, calibration activities and accreditation audits
• Maintain impartiality, confidentiality and competency records

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
• Knowledge of environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English, strong technical writing and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to complete mandatory certification body training
