Technical Specialist I (Sustainability Auditor)

This is a remote independent contractor role auditing organisations that are seeking B Corp certification. The work involves reviewing how businesses manage their sustainability, social and environmental performance, and governance against a recognised set of standards. It is a good fit for someone with a background in sustainability, environmental science or social sciences, who has hands-on auditing experience against management system standards and enjoys careful, impartial evaluation. The role is home-office based and includes some local, domestic or international travel. Strong written communication and time management are important.

What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits of organisations against B Lab Standards
• Review documents, processes and practices, and carry out interviews and site inspections where needed
• Identify non-conformities and areas for improvement, and issue clear audit reports
• Review audit reports for conformity with applicable standards and ISO 19011:2018
• Direct the audit process and keep clients on track with required data and deadlines
• Maintain competency records and take part in accreditation and calibration activities

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English, strong technical writing and advanced Excel skills
• Willingness to complete mandatory B Lab training
