Technical Specialist I (Sustainability Auditor, Remote)

A remote, independent contractor role carrying out third-party certification audits for organisations pursuing B Corp status. The work involves assessing sustainability practices, social and environmental performance, and governance against published standards, with a strong focus on objectivity, consistency and credibility. The organisation is a certification body in the sustainability and impact sector, working across energy, biomaterials and circularity. The role suits experienced sustainability professionals who enjoy detailed evidence review, client-facing audit work and travelling for site visits when needed.

What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits against B Corp standards, including document review, interviews and site inspections where needed
• Review audit reports for conformity with applicable standards and ISO 19011:2018
• Identify non-conformities and areas for improvement, and provide clear, actionable recommendations
• Manage the audit process with clients, including timelines and data collection
• Support follow-up, closure of findings and issuing of audit reports
• Maintain competency records and take part in calibration and accreditation activities

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or RSPO
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English, strong technical writing and advanced Excel skills
• Willingness to complete mandatory B Lab training
