Technical Specialist (Sustainability Auditor)

A remote independent contractor role conducting third-party audits for organisations seeking certification against a recognised sustainability and social performance standard. The work involves assessing environmental practices, social impact and governance systems, checking evidence and documentation, and writing clear audit reports. It is run by a sustainability-focused organisation working across energy, biomaterials and circularity. What you'll do

• Conduct third-party audits against sustainability and social performance standards
• Review documentation, processes and practices, with interviews and site inspections where needed
• Identify non-conformities and recommend improvements
• Prepare clear audit reports and support closure of findings
• Keep clients informed and ensure required data is provided on time
• Maintain competency records and take part in quality and accreditation activities

What you need

• Bachelor's degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, social sciences or a related field
• At least 2 years' professional experience in sustainability, social or related fields
• Experience auditing sustainability or management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001
• Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, environmental, human rights or labour laws, or GHG accounting
• Fluent English and advanced skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to complete mandatory standard-specific training
