Telecoms Preparedness & Capacity Development Consultant

This is an 11-month consultancy supporting emergency telecoms preparedness within a humanitarian logistics and telecommunications coordination group. The role is remote with frequent travel and suits an experienced professional in disaster management, ICT emergency preparedness, or capacity development who enjoys hands-on, field-focused work. The consultant works under a coordinator, designs and delivers workshops and training, and contributes technical guidance for fragile and protracted settings. Monthly honorarium is set under the hiring organisation's internal rate directive.

What you'll do

• Liaise with country offices, regional offices and partners, and run preparedness workshops and consultations
• Update the telecoms preparedness checklist and technical guidance for fragile and protracted contexts
• Draft position papers on early warning systems and AI
• Develop training packages for local responders and the humanitarian community
• Oversee preparedness and capacity work in two priority regions (Southeast Asia and Southern Africa)
• Run a South-South lessons-learned workshop

What you need

• Advanced degree in disaster management, development studies, international relations, humanitarian affairs, telecommunications or similar
• At least 5 years' experience in project management, learning and capacity development, ICT emergency preparedness or logistics
• Experience with the UN system or humanitarian clusters is desirable
• Fluent English plus intermediate knowledge of a second UN language
