Video Game Developer (Remote, South Africa)

Work follows U.S. business hours. A remote game development team is hiring a developer to build, iterate on, and maintain game projects in both Unity and Godot. You will turn design concepts and creative direction into playable mechanics and systems, owning features from early prototype through polished implementation. The role suits someone comfortable working independently across several projects while collaborating closely with designers and artists.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain games in Unity (C#) and Godot (GDScript or C#), writing clean code that supports stable, shippable builds.
• Convert design concepts into gameplay mechanics, systems and interactions, taking features from prototype to finished version.
• Find and fix bugs, performance problems and technical debt, and optimize systems for target platforms.
• Document game systems, scripts and architecture decisions so teammates can maintain the work.
• Coordinate with designers and artists through written updates and focused check-ins, and flag blockers early.

What you need

• Hands-on professional or portfolio experience developing games in both Unity and Godot.
• Strong C# skills for Unity, plus GDScript or C# experience in Godot.
• Shipped games or a strong portfolio showing finished work.
• Working knowledge of game architecture, including state machines, component systems, scene management and input handling.
• Experience with Git and collaborative branching workflows.
• Clear written English for technical discussions and documentation.
• Must be based in South Africa and able to work U.S. business hours.
